Note: This guide addresses issues encountered with some specific Android models (like certain Huawei series) around 2022. Newer phones or Android versions might behave differently.
Some customers using certain Android smartphones (such as some Huawei models) with DIVEVOLK SeaTouch housings may encounter one or both of the following issues:
-
Issue 1: Screen Won't Wake Up / Times Out Too Quickly
Some phone models may not support the "lift to wake" feature reliably inside the SeaTouch housing. Additionally, the maximum screen awake time setting (often limited to 10 minutes) might not be long enough for certain dive activities. If the screen turns off after this period, it might not be possible to wake it up again while underwater in the housing using standard methods. -
Issue 2: Pressure Sensor Interference at Depth
On certain phone series, lift-to-wake might function correctly at shallower depths (above ~20 meters), but fail below that depth. This can be due to the phone's screen pressure sensor being activated by the ambient water pressure, preventing wake-up commands.
Recommended Solutions
To address these specific issues, we recommend the following steps:
Step 1: Adjust Phone's Screen Timeout Settings
Firstly, navigate to your Android phone's display settings and set the 'Sleep' or 'Screen timeout' duration to the maximum available time (e.g., 10 minutes or 'Never' if available).
Step 2: Install and Configure "Keep Screen Awake" App
Secondly, for phones that still time out too quickly or cannot be reliably woken underwater, we recommend installing a helpful third-party Android application called "Keep Screen Awake". This app assists in preventing the screen from turning off automatically.

After installing the app, you will need to finalize its settings. Please follow the instructions carefully.
Video Guide & Visual Instructions
This assistive video demonstrates how to set up and use the "Keep Screen Awake" APP to help keep your screen active underwater. The video uses a Huawei Mate30 Pro as an example; steps on different phone systems or Android versions may vary slightly.
The following images may also help illustrate setup steps within the app or phone settings:
