Review of the DIVEVOLK SEAPRO2. After 2 days of testing the new housing with iPhone 7 Plus the results are in.
Pros
- Touch screen with selfie ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Access to different camera apps ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Light weight even with my lights and tray ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Price ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Use of the housing alone without a tray or accessories is very good for photo taking on the beach or snorkeling ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cons
- Focus area with the small 37mm lens is very small. Edges of photos are blurry if double stacking the 2 macro lenses ⭐⭐
- Divevolk app can not access the zoom button on the app when underwater ⭐⭐
- Bubbles in the screen protector ⭐⭐
- Adjusting and changing lenses in or out of the water is a bit tedious. Maybe just my big hands ⭐⭐
- The housing clamp is a bit difficult to get tight and the housing moves around a bit. You have to really press the clamp hard to get it to hold the housing in place for tray mount. ⭐⭐

Max depth I took the housing was 30m and no issues.
Overall as housings go it’s great. There are issues with the Divevolk app that need sorted out. Access to all the iPhone camera functions allows for full manual control as well as full auto mode.

I tend to do more macro than anything so I did not test the Wide Angle lens. This is due more to my area is better for Macro.
Thanks to the team at Divesea for the support and best service as always.

DIVEVOLK Update & Evolution: Addressing the Feedback
Max's detailed feedback from 2019 was incredibly valuable! It highlighted the strengths of our early touchscreen concept but also pointed out areas for improvement. We listened! Here's how DIVEVOLK technology has evolved since the SEAPRO2, addressing many of the points Max raised:
- Lens Compatibility & Image Quality: The SEAPRO2 used a smaller, specific lens mount. Our current flagship, the SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum, utilizes a versatile 67mm Threaded Lens Adapter. This industry standard allows divers to use a wide range of high-quality wet lenses, including larger macro diopters and wide-angle lenses, significantly improving image quality, reducing edge distortion, and offering far more optical flexibility than the original 37mm system.
- App Dependence & Underwater Control: While Max noted issues accessing specific app buttons underwater, the SeaTouch 4 Max provides full touchscreen access to your phone's entire operating system. This means you can use your phone's native camera app (with all its zoom and control features) or any third-party camera app you prefer, without limitations imposed by a specific housing app or button layout. The power is truly in your hands.
- Screen Bubbles: We continuously improve materials and design. Newer screen interfaces and accessory designs (like water inlet ports on filter/lens holders) help minimize the potential for trapped air bubbles affecting screen usability.
- Lens Changing: The 67mm threaded mount makes changing compatible lenses and filters underwater much quicker and easier than earlier proprietary mounts – no more tedious adjustments, even with big hands! Screw on, screw off.
- Housing Clamp & Stability: Mounting systems and clamp designs have been refined in subsequent models to ensure a more secure and stable fit when attaching the housing to trays, providing a solid platform for lights and accessories.
Beyond the SEAPRO2:
The journey from the SEAPRO2 to the current SeaTouch 4 Max reflects DIVEVOLK's commitment to innovation based on real-world user feedback. Today's housings offer broader phone compatibility, deeper depth ratings (for models like the SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum), and the unparalleled freedom of full underwater touchscreen control.
Thank You, Max!
We want to extend a huge thank you to Max's Dive Centre for taking the time to test our early product so thoroughly back in 2019 and for sharing honest feedback. It's input like this that fuels our progress!
